Bill Barney

Bill Barney is Chairman of Asian Century Equity with over 25 years of experience as an investor, board member, and CEO in Asia. He is co-founder and Chairman of Modularity, focusing on undersea communications networks through modular edge data centers. Previously, he founded and sold Turbidite and held CEO roles at Global Cloud Xchange, Reliance Communications, and Pacnet. He also served as APAC President at MCI Worldcom and held leadership roles at Global One (now Orange Business Services) and AT&T.
A strong advocate for regulatory and industry change, Bill champions cloud computing and open networks. He is the 2024-25 President & Chair of PTC’s Board of Governors and hosts Digging Into the Future, a Vlog featuring tech CEO interviews. His accolades include DataCloud Asia’s Thought Leadership Award, the Data Center Achievement Award, and TelecomAsia’s CEO of the Year. Bill holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BA from Wesleyan University.
